Future Roots, YegDnB, and Funk Bunker are proud to announce THE LEGEND...

    Metalheadz/Exit/Critical Recs/Richie Brains/Levelz
    Manchester UK

Chimpo is one of the hottest underground talents in the UK. While perhaps best known as a DJ, the talented fellow is also a top-notch producer and MC, who has worked closely with key players such as My Nu Leng, Sam Binga, Calibre, Stray, Dub Phizix, OM Unit, Trigga, Foxx, DRS, Serocee, Stray, Footsie, Fracture, Strategy, Alex Perez, and Big Narstie. You can expect an absolute onslaut of dubplate specials, originals and tunes you will never hear again except in the midst of a once in a lifetime Chimpo set!

Bass music legend Chimpo's musical style defies genre boundaries. Both his dj sets and productions see him fuse grime, drum n bass, dubstep, trap, garage, dancehall and hip hop to create a unique sound that never fails to destroy dancefloors. A seasoned DJ, producer and MC, Chimpo's career has seen him tour the world, find fans in many of his heroes and officially remix legends such as Wu Tang Clan, Zed Bias and Omar.

The last several years saw some exciting movements for Chimpo. As part of legendary crews Broke'n'English and the Estate Recordings family, Chimpo was integral in a revolution that saw Manchester labelled by revered music critics as 'the dance music capital of the UK' and 'the most exciting city in the world'. 2012 saw Chimpo release the genre-breaking 'Blowfish' which quickly became a favourite of legends such as Goldie, Shy FX and Pendulum. It also saw the release of 'Drama' aka 'Gaza', a collaboration with Trigga that after some time as a certified anthem in Manchester and around the UK, became an anthem in USA through the sets of Skream and Benga during their tour of the States.

Chimpo is take huge steps in the industry with forthcoming collaborations with Dub Phizix, My Nu Leng and Calibre and tracks signed to Soul:r, Big Dada, Modulations and Tru Thoughts. Right Now it looks like Chimpo is one of the most dangerous animals around!

With releases on several high-profile labels such as Contagious, SideStepper and Sin City, the lad has also toured America to showcase his beats which also led to an opportunity to officially remix the Wu-Tang – a perfect culmination for a man that has sought to the fuse the best of both worlds.

He has been DJing around Manchester and the UK for years, and his sets speak of his range, experience and love of music in all its shapes, colours and sizes….

For our next event we have one of the UK's most celebrated Jungle/DnB artists making his first ever YEG appearance - after years of requests from local fans we are stoked to finally present:

Based in the east of England, Bladerunner has been dj-ing/producing for twelve years, tearing up dance floors across the country and abroad.

In 2004, Bladerunner’s talents were spotted by Ray Keith. He was signed to Dread Recordings and remixed jungle classics Renegade Terrorist, The Chopper and Dark Soldier. His debut album Analog Bass was released in 2009.

He went on to remix other big tracks such as Black for DJ SS on Formation Records and Sound Control by Randall and Andy C.

As well as regular airplay on BBC Radio 1, 1 Xtra and appearances on Kiss100 and D&B Arena TV, this artist has featured in Knowledge magazine and ATM with cover mix CD.

Bladerunner’s sets showcase many of his original compositions and exclusive remixes with consistently heavy beats and punishing basslines,
His own compositions and collaborations include crowd favourites – Spartan Law, Mercenary Dub and More Prophet. Recent hits Snake Fist and Back to the Jungle also topped the BBC Radio 1 Drum & Bass charts!

With support for his music from all the A listers on the scene, including Andy C, Ray Keith, Fabio, Bailey, Bryan G, Randall and Roni Size, Bladerunner is one of the rising stars of Drum & Bass to look out for..

Sinistarr answers a few questions for YEGDNB

    By Phatcat,

We recently sat down with bass don Sinistarr to ask him a few questions about life and music! He's one of the leaders of the new school of jungle/160/halftime/footwork/juke/ hybrid sound and he'll be playing at 9910 tonight debuting a pile of new music including his hot new releases coming on the massive Exit recordings!
Yegdnb: We've seen a lot of changes in the bass music and electronic music scene recently, where do you see things headed in the next year?
Sinistarr: I think 2016 right now has been about setting foundations – a lot of my good friends that have been established as veterans in their scenes getting some great looks from very big names and labels (Greazus being the best example of this, hands down), and it’s going to set them up proper for 2017.   I’m also seeing more people of color getting recognized and supported in the North American bass music scene in 2016 – it’s commonplace in house and techno, but bass music out this way hasn’t always been like that, so to see people that look like me doing the damn thing is pretty amazing and refreshing.
Yegdnb: What kind of influence has your home of Detroit had on your music and what do you live most about the scene here in Canada?
Sinistarr: My first loves of house and techno, especially from the people that make it that are from Detroit, has always been engrained in my music, and making sure I incorporate those elements in my music is always important. Detroit has also definitely taught me a lot about having a good work ethic when it comes to music. It’s very simple – work hard and be nice!  As for the bass music scene here in western Canada, it’s incredible! There’s such a good support system that is up here – it definitely reminds me of how the house and techno scene is ran in Detroit, but switched with bass music from across the spectrum. So dope.
Yegdnb: name 3 records you absolutely can't live without right now?
Sinistarr: 1) East of Oceans – 121 Years, 2) Letherette – Sweeter, 3) D Bridge feat. Steve Spacek – Last Straw
Yegdnb: name 3 names that we should be keeping our eyes on
Sinistarr: Greazus, Quentin Hiatus, and Itoa
Yegdnb: If you could give one piece of advice to an aspiring dj/producer/musician, what would it be?
Sinistarr: If you feel you have a sound that can change the way the world looks at music, don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. Ever.

    Sinistarr (Detroit, Hospital/Metalheadz/Exit) at 9910

    By TypeCast,

After his sold out performance here last December - Future Roots, YEGDNB and Funk Bunker are so proud present the return of the groundbreaking and genre defying artist...

    SINISTARR [Detroit USA]
    (Metalheadz/Hospital Records/Tectonic/JukeTrax/31Recs/Smog/Loose Squares)

Sinistarr is one of the leaders of the dance music new school, a triple-threat as a DJ/Producer/serial Remixer who's as well known for his forward-thinking beats as he is for nightclub domination. Representing Detroit, Sinistarr's attacking both headphones and dancefloors for 2015.

If you know drum and bass you know Sinistarr as a respected junglist who's dropped heavyweight tracks over the years on Goldie's Metalheadz imprint, Doc Scott’s 31 Recordings, Hospital Records, Architecture Recordings and Renegade Hardware. Recently though, the man's been everywhere, applying his signature style to diverse sounds like footwork, techno and house with releases and remixes on SMOG, Tectonic, Human Elements, Seclusiasis, Juke Trax, and Loose Squares that show him moving beyond dance music conventions and constantly reaching out to a new audience. He’s even joined on as a member of the seminal group Urban Tribe, a team led by Drexciya member Stingray313 who boasts Carl Craig, Moodymann, and Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir as other contributors.

From gigs at South By Southwest in Austin, Ohm (Tresor) in Berlin, and the blue lagoons of Iceland, Sinistarr's been licking the envelope lately, and publications like URB, Vibe, Resident Advisor and Complex Magazine are taking note-- he is out in front.
